Its not 'tough titties'. They will just break apart and make a super league. The revenue from the champions league is one major thing which is stopping them from doing this currently. The CL revenue will be cut in half, if not more. 32 teams means italy champion, spain champion, england champion, france champion, holland champion, german champion, portugal champion and then 25 teams from relatively unknown leagues. I mean who would tune in to watch basel vs fenerbahce?

The europa cup will be the one which gets more revenue. Take out madrid, bayern, inter, lyon, man utd, psv, porto and u still have:

chelsea
arsenal
liverpool
fcb
villarreal
atléti
roma
juve
fiorentina
bremen
marseille
lisbon
zenit


i know which tournament i would be tuning in to watch.

Maza is right though, times have changed and I do not see the point in turning back the clock and making the european cup for champions only now. Because as pointed out why do you think Uefa created the CL? they want all the top clubs to participate and remain with Uefa.

If Uefa went through with your ideas, then most teams would leave uefa, and financially that means uefa are fucked.

The only way to make the uefa cup prestigious again is to make it knock out rounds straight from the off - no group games. It should be a knockout tournament. I agree the finalists of the cup shouldn't be there. It should go to cup winners and teams who deserve it through the league.

Cup-winners-cup did nothing for me either, I hated being in it(though it wasn't often) and I was glad when uefa disbanded it.

Yep. Although i disagree with the knock out idea though. I think group stages, while possibly less 'glamourous', really do sift out the weaker teams. I loved the cl when it had two group stages.
