True, but no player has at the top of the game, dissapeared so much in big games (apart from ibrahimovich (sp?)
You can dissapear in some big games, everyone has nerves, but to do it so many times?
But you can't argue that ronaldo is getting better at the big games senario, but, a great player (or best in the world apparently) is supposed to bring his A GAME, not do some good touches and then score a average goal and have no elling pass or cross consistently ect.... a.k.a not dissapearing completely.

he was constantly winning headers and finding team-mates with the flicks, he held the ball up well and pressured arsenal and the back and scored two storming goals. the first was hit so fast by the time almunia got over there it was in. that's the thing with ronaldo's FK's, when they go right there's not much the keeper can do (like juninho's FK's, look at keepers always JUST get there but coz the ball is hit so fast it goes in). the second involved a great flick, turn and run, and then a nice sharp finish.
arsenal got shown up. gibbs shat his pants (he's so overrated - like abidal doesn't close down wingers enough) and park dinked it over almunia. then the FK and that was game. the third was one of their rapier-like counters. arsenal suck. god I wish we had drawn them. they were never and have never been on united's (or chelsea's or our) level. we'd have fucking destroyed them even more than united did.
the fletcher sending off is HUGE if we get to the final. he closes down space so so well, better than anyone else united have bar hargreaves who is injured. and fergie said "depending on who we faced" when talking about whether fletch would have started the final. him being suspended greatly increases our chances if we get to the final.

*Brilliant with Free kicks?, last time i checked he scored 1 out of every 20 free kicks he would take, hardly 'brilliant' as you put it.
** Agreed he is a great headerer, but comparing him to Iniesta for goals? you can't compare that, it's like if you were comparing Yaya and Ronaldo, you wouldn't say Yaya tackles more, would you, it's not his posistion? (remember Ronaldo is basically a striker these days). So why would you say to a PLAYMAKER with 3 strikers ahead of him that he needs to score more goals, just check his assists, that's his job, to assist.
*** By far?, Ronldo is by his standars a very bad passer IMO, Iniesta takes on many more players and does something with the ball, better close control, creates bundles more, better vison and awareness, which Ronaldo really doesn't have much of, sure he's better at shooting, free kicks, heading, and is quick, what else has he got on him?, sure he might be more complete, but saying 'by far?' is garbage

okey maybe not THAT bad
but his freekicks are way overrated imo, he hits it really hard and is normally easily saved or hits the wall.

Ronaldo disappearing in big games is vastly overstated. It's become some sort of myth and whenever he doesn't have perform spectacular in big games, a few weeks laters people will talk of him disappearing in that game.

Great free kick from him aswell. Almunia maybe didn't expect it because it was a long way out and thought he was going to cross it. That said, he should have saved it.
For Park's goal, Gibbs was unlucky big time. I thought the pitch was a little "greasy" only because i saw quite a few players slipping.
All in all, ManYoo are probably favourites.
We have to focus on Chelsea and not the final - becuase we're not ther yet...DUH!

Arsenal 14 6
Liverpool 9 2
CL KO Games 18 8
Portugal WC Games 6 1
Portugal Euro Games 10 3
these are the stats that Cristiano has accumulated since joining ManUtd (source is ESPN Soccernet's Cristiano Ronaldo player profile page), the first number is the amount of games he's played and the second number is the amount of goals he's scored in said games. Until the CL Final, he never scored a goal vs Chelsea. And while I know that he scored the opening goal (a nice little headed goal from a Scholes cross) he still missed the deciding penalty and would have been the one to blame had Terry not choked. He's only scored 2 goals v Liverpool. Leo scored more goals v Real Madrid in 2006 when he had his hat trick. And even against defensively poor Arsenal, taking out today's game and one game in 2005 Cristiano has scored 2 goals in 12 games v Arsenal. Those are ManUtd's biggest rivals, please correct me if I'm wrong. His record in CL KO games coming in to the Arsenal semi was 16 games played, 6 goals. This includes zero goals v FCB last semi and a missed penalty. He was a no show when AC Milano knocked out ManUtd twice. In the World Cup, I don't think 2006 is a good enough barometer of his performance on that stage. But the 2008 Euros are an excellent indication of what his expected performance in 2010 will look like. That is, four games and one goal, Portugal out early.
Now I know that stats are only ONE PART of the equation that a player of Cristiano's importance has for ManUtd. But the bottom line that all scoring forwards are judged by is ultimately goals. And scoring 8 goals in 37 games vs ManUtd's three biggest rivals.
Well.

My answer is yes and no.
He plays great in some big games (Like today) but he plays shite in other big games (FCB, Milan). You can't expect a player to score in every big game they participate in now do you because that's nonsense.
and in his earlier years he was a traditional right midfielder where other players had more responsibily than him. Now he's the main man he has more responsibility and often comes up with the goods; but not all of the time..
