Eto'o Is Better Than Ibrahimovic - Former Barcelona Defender Edmilson
The ex-Barca defender can't fathom why his former club want to offload the quicksilver Cameroonian...

Veteran defender Jose Edmilson has heaped praise on former teammate Samuel Eto’o, and has criticised Barcelona’s decision to sell the striker as part of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic transfer.

The Brazilian spent four seasons at the Camp Nou from 2004-08 and witnessed first-hand the ability of Eto’o, and the 33-year-old, who now plies his trade with Palmeiras, has stated his disbelief that his former club want to off-load the dynamic forward in order to land Ibrahimovic.

Speaking on radio programme Ona FM, Edmilson said of Eto’o, “I am very surprised, because he [Eto’o] is the best in the world.

“He is good in front of goal, has presence in the area and has great speed. He was an excellent companion to motivate people. I don’t know if this is because of a problem with the coach, but I believe he is the best striker at Barcelona.”

Furthermore, Edmilson continued by saying that he does not believe the offer of €45 million plus Eto’o and Aliaksandr Hleb for Ibrahimovic represents value for money, and the former Lyon star is in little doubt as to who the superior frontman is.

“I would not change anybody for [Samuel] Eto’o. He is much more of a player than [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. It seems that Pep Guardiola wants a different player.”

The deal bringing the Swedish forward to the Camp Nou, with Eto’o and Hleb moving in the other direction, could be completed within the next 24 hours.

Wise words from Edmilson at least he can realise who is the superior of the two.

Than whats your excuse?

Ibra is a more complete attacker than Eto. He has a aerial game (eto does not), can hold the ball up (eto can not), more creative, pass better and can score from dead ball situations. What will be missed about Eto in comparison to Ibra is his ability to track back. However in terms of a pound for pound attacker. Ibra is the better player.

I'm a realist who know's Eto'o is the better player so why would I need an excuse?

Your about the only one who thinks getting rid of the worlds best striker for a over-rated forward is a good deal. And the only one who thinks Ibra is better then Eto'o

Yes I do. Especially when Eto won't resign and we are going to lose him for s*it money in the winter or for nothing next summer. A concept you can not grasp because your team sells buildings to overpay for football players.

Anyway, I don't think Eto is better than Ibra. Maybe Sam has better goal tally because he plays in an attacking system at Barca who plays in a more attacking league, with the worlds best creative players behind him, to his left and to his right supplying him endless chances (still could not beat out Forlan for Pichichi: TWICE), but no, I do not believe he is the better attacker than Ibra. Who plays in a defensive league (Italy), under a defensive coach (Mourinho).

I don't think Eto will outscore Balletoli by much when he lines up Inter. I think he will Messi, Henry, AI, Xavi and Alves more than they will miss him. We'll see.

Jamain I'm just saying even if you let him leave for free, it would still cost Barca NO WHERE near as much as what they are prepared to pay for Ibra. Yes it is a bad piece of business letting the best striker leaving for free but not compared to paying that laughable amount for a guy notorious for flopping in big games and the Champions League.

 I think in terms of all round game Ibra is better, he does have more to him than Samu. As a goalscorer though there's only one winner.

You can discuss about who is the better striker all night, but there is no question who is cuter. Sammy often, when he shaves, has a shiny bald head that you just want to rub and you want to cuddle with it, and his lips are thick and full like all respectable Western African males. But Zlatan has this Eastern European charm in him that is impossible to resist, plus all his tattoos and his huge nose that is even bigger than Txiki's, so hottt OMG

 That's his sig?!? I thought it was a one off pic.

My mate is an Inter fan and he LOVES Ibra. I think he fancies him a bit. Lately he's been saying that Ibra is s*it and Eto'o and Hleb are the bomb. What a knob of a fan.

Nolan, is that you in your sig?
