ok i though after the season is over and no single player is going to be signed before real has a new president, lets talk about the elections on the 2nd of july. about the candidates and their promises and everything concerning this issue. we already started this in the backbone thread, but i think this is right now the most important thing going on at the club and it surely deserves an extra thread

ok i'll start with a spanish article i found, it's a bit older but anyways, it give u some information

[17/05/2006]

ok i'll try to sumarise this in english for the non spanish speaking people

- Francisco Barroso:

he promises the signings of three galacticos, kaka', c. ronaldo and will bring van basten as coach. he wants to follow the policy of perez who he tinks did a great job, except his "ending"

- Florentino Perez:

not sure if he will stand but surely he won't let camacho, hierro and del bosque get back to the club

- Lorenzo Sanz:

still not sure if he will stand or not

- Juan Palacios:

he wants to bring back a lot of people, the ones i pointed out above. as coach del bosque

- Ramon Calderon:

he wants schuster as coach and promises 3 or 4 new signings without naming any player

- Carlos Sainz:

he wants del bosque as coach and as players cesc and xabi

ok, now that's for the article, but on sainz i know, read that he joined with villar mir and that they are chasing laudrup and wenger as coaches. that's all i know by now, anyone who got some more??? post it here

Based on signings and what he plans on doing, I'm leaning towards Palacio, then Sanz. Can't really make a decision yet because we don't know very much....

Have they made their official speeches yet?

Sainz & Villar has a joined bid... under the name of Villar as president with Sainz as Vice president, they have an ambitious program based on building the team almost from scratch & Laudrup is the main coach.

Calderon is emerging from Perez shadow , he is strongly promoting Schuster as the new coach .. i don't expect any thing good for him ..he is a Perez man & i think most of the board will remain the same if he won.... he said that he will keep all aspects of the current startgey except the sporting side (which i'm not buying)

Francisco Barroso is trying to copy Perez footsteps in 2000 promising big names, it is remain to be seen if he can even secure half of these names, very un-realstic & i doubt Kaka will move that easily especially when Sheva is leaving... i think his chances are slim .. but who knows

Lorenzo Sanz: he said it clearly the only thing would push him to run for presidency again IF PEREZ applied .. (seems he hate him too much...can't blame him there) however Sanz proven to be a great president during his time he build a greaaat team won 2 CL's & the base for the third CL...did i mention also gave us Del Bosque

Juan Palacios: he got Camacho backing... he wants to bring all the old names...in principle its good if they have the proper experiance... but Camacho is a chicken , he took off twice before...whenever things go wrong he quit... its a bad call to chose someone the memebers lost faith in .. and want Michel to take over Castilla...last i heard Michel was a commentator!!! so you through him to coach the great B team!!?? he want to bring all the people that left unhappy with Perez (Pirri,Hierro,Del Bosque..etc) and then do what? turn it to "i hate Perez fan Club" ....i don't know about that... but i feel worried from this candidate

Fernando Martín:

i believe he still got Ancelotti as the main coach, too bad for Henry though... i think this guy will do quite well with Perez puppets around him

Fernandez Tapias

the Florentino Candidate (officially) ... he will keep everything as it is minus the sporting facility, he is eager to have Carlos Sainz with him as VP , lately Florentino & Sainz met in order for the first to convince the second to drop Villar & join Tapias ...Sainz insisted of waiving that option & insisiting on Villar, Tapias got the backing of Getafe president

Baldassano

still very vague about his candidate race, he did not declare anything lately & no one know if the Teka Chairman is really eager to run

-------------------------------------------

those are more or less the names running, Florentino got the backing of 8000 votes at least from the peñas (fan clubs) .. considring the last election were only 20000 members voted that could be influential... from the run of things Sainz is the one everyone worried from ... everyone trying to lure him and that means he has plenty of votes

So far i'm expecting the 2 strong horses to be

Villar - Sainz Vs. Tapias (prediciting he or Calderon to drop out)

it's reported that perez and sainz met in a hotel and that perez tried to convince sainz to let tapias join him and villar mir as second vicepresidente. meaning villar mir as president and tapias + sainz vice

but sainz said it clearly that he wants no allagation with tapias, since villar mir promised him to be the only vice at the club

this really shows what beast said. perez is kinda fearing sainz and his "power". i think perez sees villar mir and sainz as the favorites to win and he tried to jump on that wining train with his puppet tapias

im starting to like the idea of Arsene Wenger as coach, because he is so incredibly good at finding young talent and using it properly. I dont think there is a single coach on Earth who is as good at that as Wenger.

He is also very well balanced. He knows how to build a defensive team and he also knows how to build a VERY entertaining team (two years ago, Arsenal were playing some of the most beautiful football on the face of the Earth).

He knows how to buy the right players and how to fit them in his strategy. Overall he is a great coach but a BAD media person.

But I also like the Cesc and Xabi + Del Bosque strategy.

Well then, I hope Villar wins out of those two. Sanz has the best history but doesn't seem to have enough power.

hehehe, read a request about who people think would be the ideal player to base his candidature on. funny who leads this, take a look:

c. ronaldo: 28% (11392 votes)
cesc: 25% (10123 votes)
messi: 17% ( 6982 votes)

i would have never expected that c. ronaldo is that much wanted!!! messi and cesc are expected. what also surprised me was that torres only has 4% (1782 votes) => for now, since it's still on

meanwihle i read that schuster said in an interview he would not think twice if madrid would ask him to be coach and that he believes messi would be a great player for real since real has no left winger. he also commented on raul and adviced him to leave, since he believes raul is only killing time at madrid now and should move on for his sake

what do you mean??? the messi thing, the raul thing or both???

personally i agree with both. although i would not know where to put robinho if, provided messi would come (for the cules: PROVIDED :P ) and play on the left side

anyways i think he is right with both statements

If Messi ever comes to madrid he would play from the right. He would be most useful cutting in fromthe right and having a chance at goal you can ask roberto carlos how hard it is to stop the kid in full flight anyway we need to get wishfull thinking away for now. I like the idea od Schuster as manager of madrid but not sure of the caledron guy now that i know he might be following in Perez's footsteps.

Anyway thios bloody election need to be done and over with we need to have a clear vision of what is next.

I just want Arsene Wenger as coach. The man is sheer class, and is so talanted at developing young players. He is also great at buying the right players that fit his tactics. Overall, he is the kind of coach that can rebuild Madrid and make us great again.

here is something interesting concerning del bosque. aperently he hasn't comitted to a candidate but spoken to ALL of them.

Del Bosque keen on Real return
By Lucas Brown - Created on 22 May 2006

Vicente Del Bosque has said he would be delighted to be nominated to become Real Madrid coach by any of the presidential candidates.

The former Bernabeu coach is keen for a return to his former job following the departure of Florentino Perez, who Del Bosque said he would never work under again.

Del Bosque has an open relationship with many of the presidential candidates and is in constant contact with Jose Antonio Camacho.

"I am not hiding. I have spoken with all the candidates and with my friend Camacho and if someone is interested in my services then I will be celebrating during the elections," he said.

"I am not going to prevent anyone from attaching my name to their campaign."

Elections to find a new president will take place on July 2 and Del Bosque admits any more seasons under the current regime would have meant little success in the Spanish capital.

"The club would have suffered for another season had they waited any longer," he added.

Meanwhile, Del Bosque is hoping supporters of Perez do not win control of the club.

"I get the impression that Florentino does not want to lose the control that he has had at Real Madrid.

"In the elections I shall remain neutral, but I know who people should not vote for."

---------------------------------------

street if real would play him at the right, they might as well try to get c. ronaldo, jesus navas or joaquin, since they're much more likely.
and i don't think this is only wishfull thinking, beast said something like messi would be in reals plans since november. providing this is true (beast seems to me a reliable source, he has proven that) real would have already given up on messi if there would be NO chance of him to ever join real and beast would have said it differntly, like he WAS in reals plans. anyways only time will show what will happen, to be honest i really can't see that messi thing happening, but let's see

ppw, forget about wenger as soon as possible. he will never join real. he will stay with arsenal for life, until they kick him out. and especially not after he convinced henry to stay at arsenal. i mean what would that be??? convincing him not to join real and then himself leaving for real??? never, that would be like, don't go there since i want to go there :P
