UEFA Champions League Qualifier

Wed. 13th Aug. 08 | Camp Nou, Barcelona

Wisla Krakow have crushed Israeli side Beitar Jerusalem 6-2 on aggregate to set up a UEFA Champions League 3rd round qualifying tie against Barça.

The Polish side will visit the Camp Nou on the 12/13th August for the first leg before taking the 2006 winners back to Krakow for the decisive second leg on the 26/27th. The winners of the tie will book a place in the lucrative UEFA Champions League proper whilst the loser will have to settle for a place in the UEFA Cup.

This will be the second time Barça have faced the Polish side in this stage of the competition. In 2001, Barça beat Wisla 4-3 in a high scoring first leg affair in Poland before finishing them off at the Camp Nou with a 1-0 victory to seal a 5-3 aggregate win.

This season's UEFA Champions League final will be held in the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Wednesday 27th May 2009. This will be the last UEFA Champions League final staged on a Wednesday night before the final is moved to it's new Saturday night spot in the 2010 final at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

You can watch Wisla Krakow's goals from their 5-0 victory over Beitar Jerusalem on the player to your right.
