Manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly eyeing up Valencia winger David Silva as a replacement for Thierry Henry according to AS.
The Frenchman only has a year to run on his contract and it is thought that he will be free to leave the club once that contract ends.
The 23 year old Canary Islander would be a ready made replacement for the Frenchman, however, he would face stiff competition from fellow Canary Islander Pedro, who has had an outstanding season so far for the Blaugrana as well as another player who came up through the youth ranks, the pacy Jeffren Suárez.
However, with Guardiola's own future in doubt, it will remain to be seen if he does stay on as manager next season following the presidential elections due to take place in the summer of 2010. If he does, there is no doubt the new head of the club will be ready to back Guardiola and stump up the money needed to praise Silva away from cash strapped Valencia regardless of whether they qualify for the UEFA Champions League or not.
Meanwhile, SPORT report that the club are looking at Napoli's Slovakian midfield maestro Marek Hamsik. As well as his excellent performances for his club, he was also instrumental in helping his country qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the first time Slovakia have made the finals in their history.
His transfer fee is also expected to be quite steep, with several Premier League sides also interested whilst Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it clear on several occasions that he will not let his star man leave his club.
