Barça won the first of six possible trophies this season after they defeated city rivals RCD Espanyol 3-0 at the Camp Nou to win the Spanish Super Cup 4-0 on aggregate.

Deco was next on the scoresheet on 12 minutes and he repeated the trick just after the hour with an acrobatic volley as Frank Rijkaard's team dominated throughout. Barça, who this season are aiming to defend the UEFA Champions League and Primera División titles as well as lift the Copa del Rey and FIFA Club World Cup, have the chance to win another piece of silverware on Friday when they meet domestic rivals Sevilla FC in Monaco for the UEFA Super Cup.
