Txiki Begiristain is confident that FC Barcelona will complete deals that will see Thiago Motta, Santi Ezquerro and Maxi López leave the club before the beginning of the new season.

The Blaugrana's technical secretary believes that Motta will have his pick of destinations, while Ezquerro will not be allowed to depart the club for free.

Barça are keen to trim their squad after bringing in four new players this summer and are actively seeking would-be buyers for their fringe squad members.

"We think that Motta will be the player with the most offers because of his quality," he said.

"Although everything is being treated calmly at the moment, but like with (Ludovic) Giuly the most probable thing is that we will look for a team for him that he wants."

Athletic Bilbao are the only club to have asked about Ezquerro, but Begiristain is no hurry to respond as the player has indicated that he fancies a change of scenery.

"It is true that Athletic have enquired about him, but we have to wait and see what the player wants," he continued.

"It appears that he may want to try playing in England or somewhere else abroad.

"We have told Athletic that we would not stand in their way, but we have to place a value on him because he is a very good player despite not having many chances here.

"He is a proven goalscorer and he will demand a fee."

Reports stating that Maxi had agreed to join Sporting Lisbon on loan for a year were wide of the mark as Begiristain confirmed that no deal had been struck with the Portuguese giants.

"We received a call about Maxi from Sporting, but that has now gone," he added.

"We will continue to work with him and his agent to find him a new club."
