Barça present Pinto

Barcelona revealed their new goalkeeper, 32-year-old Jose Manuel Pinto who came on loan from Celta Vigo, to the press. He expressed contentment and promised to work hard in order to take advantage of every opportunity he might get in near future.

Frank Rijkaard was forced to look out for a new goalkeeper after Albert Jorquera suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (torn knee ligaments) injury to his right knee, which will force him to rest until June.

After a lot of rumination they decided to go with Pinto, who will stay in Barça until the end of the season, with the option of signing him lastingly.

Pinto stated in the press conference that he is coming “with great commitment” and wants to contribute “to Barça's success in all three competition” and is well aware of the fact that he'll be a substitute to a first choice goalkeeper Victor Valdes who is »in top form" as veteran goalkeeper stated.

Some rumours were going around about Pinto starting in Copa del Rey match against Villareal in quarter-finals but Pinto stayed firm on the ground stressing that "only the manager decide whether I'm going to play or not".

Just before the end of the press conference he was asked if he believes Barça can win La Liga and he optimistically replied that “there are 19 weeks left so anything can happen”.

Barcelona’s coach Frank Rijkaard expressed his satisfaction with the new acquisition which “will strengthen competition and determination inside the team” and is convinced of Pinto’s experience and his huge talent. Finally he stated that new goalie will “put some pressure on Victor in order to keep his form up”.
