Bojan gets Spain call up

Barça's 17 year old striker Bojan Krkic has been rewarded for his excellent start to his senior Barcelona career with a call up to the Spain squad for their upcoming friendly with France.

Should Bojan take the field of play next Wednesday, he will become the youngest ever full Spanish international, taking the record from Athletic Bilbao's Angel Zubieta, who was 17 years old and 9 months when he turned out for Spain more than 70 years ago.

"He's playing very well at the moment and that is why he is here. He has a great future in front of him," Spain coach Luis Aragones told a news conference.

Earlier, Aragones had hinted that he could pick Bojan in a bid to make sure he doesn't get poached by the Serbian national team.

Xavi and Andrés Iniesta are the other Barcelona players included in the squad for the match against France. Captain Carles Puyol misses out after picking up a muscle tear which will keep him out for at least 3 weeks.

Bojan and co. will come up against teammates Thierry Henry, Éric Abidal and Lilian Thuram. The trio have been called up for the French squad.
