Barça are in a great position to qualify to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after their excellent win over Scottish champions Celtic in Glasgow last night.

Club captain Carles Puyol thought the match was Barça's best this season but was keen to stress that the tie isn't over just yet.

"The team played well, even when we went behind,” said Puyol.

“I think it was one of our best matches of the season.

“This is the road to follow but we mustn’t think that we’ve got it all done.

“We had to recover that pressure. It’s what has given us a lot of joy in previous seasons".

Goalscoring hero Leo Messi was happy with the result and was now looking forward to the next couple of matches coming up in the league and Copa del Rey.

“I’m happy with the result," claimed Messi.

“This result will help us keep improving.

“Now the important matches are coming up”.

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan also heaped praise on Barça, claiming they were favourites to go on and win the competition.

"No matter what level you play at, the team that passes the ball better wins games of football,” said the Celtic boss.

“Barcelona were superb at passing it and we [Celtic] gave the ball away. If you want to compete with the really top sides then your passing has to be better. It's disappointing to score two goals at home and lose 3-2. We gave away two silly goals.

"They will probably be the favourites to win this tournament. For us to give them a real good game we had to have nine or 10 at their best and we didn't."

The return leg at the Camp Nou will be played in two weeks time on Tuesday 4th March.
